Title: Vietnamese Sign Language Post by: methuongcon on January 10, 2007, 11:23:25 PM I teach my children American Sign Language. I had family visit from VN, and they wanted to send some sign language dvds back to VN for their niece to watch.
I teach hearing parents and children ASL to help reduce frustration in those early years before children can express themselves fully with words. It has been a great adventure with my oldest son. It also has been a great tool in helping my son bridge the language gap between English and Vietnamese as my husband and I both use the same signs while speaking the two different langauges. I want to learn more about the Vietnamese Sign Language. From my understanding it it influenced by the French Sign Language (like unto the written langauge). ASL is also influenced by the French. I wonder if there are any similarties. Any input? Thank you for your time!
