I was a director/vp of HR, but now I'm teaching classes as a college professor and getting severance, but I will be going back to my old job next year

fashion design seems like a lot of fun

my old job was tough and it entailed a lot of hours I would work close to 70-80 hours a week, and I'll tell you. Burnout will happen, but I guess I consider myself lucky as well b/c when I tried to resigned they did everything they could to keep me on...so basically I'm teaching and calling into meetings when I can.

network a lot with others and get lucky in making your dream come true.

for me and a lot of others:

Everyone works hard

but

Luck plays a big factor

yeah thats true... its very tirin sometimes workin within fashion related.. ideas doesnt always hit u in the head.. you have to research and do alot of other stuff.. :( its sometimes gets to me.. and arghhhh.. there's always guna be ups n downs abt it... :( bt you have to deal with it..

yup I totally agree...I started my career in hospitality/casino then went to HR and teaching, but right now I looking to either own a business or going back working for the man

yeah, i wana start my own business after i graduat from university.. wich is in 5 years time.. damn!!! bt then, im also hopin to work for someone within the fashion business/industries.. =^.^=

I mean apprenticeships

it means that you work for a company for a limited number of hours getting valuable experience in the process.

yeah they do.. alot of students who don't get into uni's n further education goes for that sorta thing.. its quite a good pay toO.. whereas other try to aim high.. ^.^

I see. I don't know how it works over there.

being in school I was offered a ton of internships, but I had to work and focus on school, and when I did manage to squeeze one in...it literally killed me to go through what I did working a job, internship, and school

yeah... i guess its alryt, if u aint plannin on goin into uni n stuff.. and thepay is quite good.. bt still.. i really do prefer to go and complete my degree.. he'll look good on my CV too.. so u knw.. ^.^ and besides, i enjoy wht im doin.. hehe

yep.. you need it for uni's and colleges.. had one since high school, wen i started to study the course.. ^.^ my room is full of it.. ahaha u dont wana see lol ahaha.. and damn!!! its a hassle carryin this big portfolio to interviews n stuff.. coz its so damn heavy ahaha lol and im so petite ahaha ^.^ probs fall over ot sumthin.. bt althou, i had to carry it a few times.. for my interviews n thing.. wudnt mind if the place was close by.. bt lyk goin down to london for it.. damn!!! lol my hands probably break off ahaha ^.^

I am trained and qualified Electronics and Control Engineer. Pity that I hate doing it as I can earn 3 to 4 times I am earning at the moment.

Been working for 2 Big American companies in my time. One you will all know if you listen to any audio sound (Dolby). The other is famous for its CEO spend 10 Grand on bathroom equipment and think it is Ok to use shareholders money to buy it (Tyco).

Now I am working for a German company where I am getting paid to next to nothing and still get month bonuses. Pay rises are due in the next 2 months and again in January. God I feel guilty getting paid to do nothing and it will go on for a two month before I need to lift a finger. At least I have the satisfaction that what I do helps sick people and sport stars like Wayne Rooney.
